We’re cranking up the tunes and hitting the outback for Mystery Box Rally 2026!
We’re Nothin’ Works But The Radio — Lou and Shan: Shannon, who couldn’t navigate her way out of a car park, and Louise, who thinks a carburettor might be a type of pasta. But give us some duct tape, a dodgy map, and a working radio, and we’ll get there eventually — probably.
We’ll be taking on five unpredictable days of dirt roads, breakdowns, and questionable decisions in an old banger that’s seen better days. We’ll be setting off from Charleville and won’t have a clue where we’re headed each morning until the mystery route is revealed. (What could possibly go wrong?)
But this adventure isn’t just about surviving the dust and duct tape — it’s about driving for a cause that hits close to home. We’ve both lost people we love to cancer, and we don’t want to lose any more family or friends to this disease. So, we’re putting our time, sanity, and possibly our suspension on the line to help fund life-saving cancer research through the Cancer Council.
Every kilometer we cover (and every bodge-job repair we attempt on the side of the road) gets us one step closer to a cancer-free future.
Please donate and help us make our miles count — one dusty, duct-taped, radio-blaring kilometer at a time.
Because out here in the outback, nothin’ works but the radio — and your support. ❤️
Mystery Box Rally is a 5-day challenge like no other. Participants drive 25+ year old cars along a mystery route, through some of Australia’s most stunning (and often rugged) landscapes, all in support of cancer research. It’s not a race—it’s a challenge and more importantly, a celebration of the power of community.
Yes, the cars break down, and yes, there are plenty of unexpected twists along the way, but that’s all part of the fun. The rally is designed to be a colourful and unpredictable experience, where teams travel in small groups, helping each other along the way. And when the day’s drive ends, we gather around the campfire, share stories, and reflect on the day’s achievements.
This event brings together people who have been impacted by cancer in different ways—whether it's through their own battles or through loved ones. Together we’ll make memories that last a lifetime while supporting the fight against cancer.
Founded in 2009, Box Rallies has raised well over $50 million for cancer research with our chosen beneficiary being Cancer Council.
We are proud to be the funder of national cancer research projects after the Australian Government. These enormous funds raised go towards vital cancer research projects.
Thanks to the community funds raised such as Mystery Box Rally we can fund world-class research that reduces the impact of cancer for everyone.
