Our Story …

I'm excited to announce that the old man and I are taking on the Mystery Box Rally in October 2026!

For those of you who don't know my Dad (Peter Senior), he is an Aussie bushie and retired tradie who can fix just about anything with a bit of fencing wire. His job is to keep our 1997 Ford Falcon Ute moving and my job is to raise a bit of money for a great cause. Together, we’re hoping to turn an old Falcon, a lot of kilometres and a few beers into something that makes a difference - all while having fun together.

The rally will see us leave Charleville and spend five days covering around 2,500 kilometres of Australia's outback roads, with no idea where we're headed next until each morning. For Dad, it's a return to familiar territory. For me, it's a chance to swap the office for the outback and reconnect with my roots. While we're expecting plenty of laughs and probably some spirited discussions, we're taking part for a cause that means a great deal to us. We're raising funds for Cancer Council in support of Megan Porter (my best mate's mother) and in loving memory of Maree Burns. We're also dedicating the drive to our sponsors who are closely connected to the cause.

Every dollar raised goes directly to Cancer Council to help fund vital cancer research, support services, and programs that make a real difference to Australian families facing cancer. Every team is required to raise at least $4,000, but Dad and I have set ourselves a goal of raising $10,000. We'd be incredibly grateful for any support you can provide. Whether it's a donation, sharing our page, or simply cheering us on from afar, every contribution helps. Thank you for helping us turn an old Falcon, a bushie, and a finance guy into a force for a great cause. We're looking forward to enjoying this adventure together.

Here's what I'm doing …

Mystery Box Rally is a 5-day challenge like no other. Participants drive 25+ year old cars along a mystery route, through some of Australia’s most stunning (and often rugged) landscapes, all in support of cancer research. It’s not a race—it’s a challenge and more importantly, a celebration of the power of community.

Yes, the cars break down, and yes, there are plenty of unexpected twists along the way, but that’s all part of the fun. The rally is designed to be a colourful and unpredictable experience, where teams travel in small groups, helping each other along the way. And when the day’s drive ends, we gather around the campfire, share stories, and reflect on the day’s achievements.

This event brings together people who have been impacted by cancer in different ways—whether it's through their own battles or through loved ones. Together we’ll make memories that last a lifetime while supporting the fight against cancer.

Dad and I are delighted to be raising money for the Cancer Council on behalf of your very brave mum! Maree was a larger-than-life character who I reckon would think this is all a bit of a hoot! She’ll be in our hearts and minds as we take on the challenge. Thanks so much for your generous donation and much love from Team Dodgy Hodgie. ❤️
