We're happy to announce that we're taking part in Mystery Box Rally in 2025!!
We’re a husband-and-wife team, testing our long-term partnership again with this being Gus's 6th rally and Marianne's second.
Sadly, we’ve seen more than our share of cancer hitting our circles. Gus’s mum, sister and nephew have beaten cancer. Gus’s eldest brother, Steve was taken in 2017, and brother in law, Sebastian and Marianne's mum, Louise lost their cancer battles some years before. There are also other friends and family who are or have been affected by this insidious disease. This rally will have us driving a car that is 25 years or older along outback roads, over five days driving in a loop from Charleville to Charleville. We won’t know where we’ll be going in between, covering about 2500 kilometres with all the other details kept under wraps, and only given to the teams each morning. We do expect dirt roads, dust and heat, driving along a mystery route in this 5-day challenge, all in the name of cancer research.
We're hoping to take our little 1991 Toyota Seca (without air conditioning !!!) again - a noble survivor of the 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2025 rally.
To participate we need to raise at least $4,000 with every dollar we raise going to the Cancer Council. We would very much appreciate it if you could donate to the cause & help us on our journey!
Mystery Box Rally is a 5-day challenge like no other. Participants drive 25+ year old cars along a mystery route, through some of Australia’s most stunning (and often rugged) landscapes, all in support of cancer research. It’s not a race—it’s a challenge and more importantly, a celebration of the power of community.
Yes, the cars break down, and yes, there are plenty of unexpected twists along the way, but that’s all part of the fun. The rally is designed to be a colourful and unpredictable experience, where teams travel in small groups, helping each other along the way. And when the day’s drive ends, we gather around the campfire, share stories, and reflect on the day’s achievements.
This event brings together people who have been impacted by cancer in different ways—whether it's through their own battles or through loved ones. Together we’ll make memories that last a lifetime while supporting the fight against cancer.
Founded in 2009, Box Rallies has raised well over $50 million for cancer research with our chosen beneficiary being Cancer Council.
We are proud to be the funder of national cancer research projects after the Australian Government. These enormous funds raised go towards vital cancer research projects.
